Taylor Morrison Expands Its 55+ Presence in Houston with Second Active Adult Community in Less Than a Year

HOUSTON, Aug. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Taylor Morrison, a leading national homebuilder and developer, is expanding its active adult presence in the Houston area with the announcement of its second Bonterra active lifestyle community.

The company announced today that it would build another Bonterra community at Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear. The new community is expected to offer many of the same amenities and floor plans as the original Bonterra but will also include two new features – a gated neighborhood and waterfront home sites – as well as access to the master-planned amenities of Cross Creek Ranch.

"We see this community as not only an extension of our successful 55+ Bonterra brand but also an evolution," said Jim Ellison, vice president of sales and marketing Taylor Morrison's Houston division. "We have the best of both worlds here – all of the amenities of a master-planned community but also the secluded feel of a Bonterra neighborhood. And much like Bonterra at Woodforest, this new Bonterra neighborhood will address the need for more lifestyle-focused, 55+ communities for Houston residents living to the west of the city."

The new 268-acre community comes on the heels of last summer's successful grand opening of Bonterra at Woodforest in Montgomery, the builder's first entry into 55+ living in Houston. An eager 2,000 homebuyers lined up to tour the builder's Woodforest models when they debuted. Ellison said his team has been pleased with the reception the 55+ community is receiving.

"It's been an eventful and successful year for our 55+ homebuyers," Ellison said. "Our first Bonterra at Woodforest residents are enjoying their homes. We've begun construction on their new clubhouse. And now we're getting ready for the debut of this 55+ experience at Cross Creek Ranch."

Rob Bamford, general manager of Cross Creek Ranch, says the new Bonterra community will appeal to an underserved segment of the west Houston population.

"The Katy and Fulshear areas are very family-oriented, and just in Cross Creek Ranch, we see numerous couples moving here to be near grandchildren," Bamford said. "Having home designs, amenities and planned activities specifically for adults age 55 and older will be very appealing."

A project of The Johnson Development Corp. and voted Master-Planned Community of the Year for a second year by the Greater Houston Builders Association, Cross Creek Ranch is located just minutes west of the Grand Parkway off FM 1093 and offers easy access to the Westpark Tollway. Residents enjoy a natural landscape and an array of amenities, including the Cross Creek Water Park, a spacious fitness center, the Canine Commons dog park, Italian Maid Cafe on-site and the Polishing Pond Boardwalk, which traverses a bird and wildlife sanctuary. A sports complex provides opportunities for tennis, basketball and volleyball.
