Goodyear, Ariz. - A new elementary school is underway for the Liberty Elementary School District, thanks to a land donation by local homebuilder Taylor Morrison.
The Phoenix homebuilder, currently developing Las Brisas in Goodyear, donated approximately 15 acres needed for the new elementary school earlier this year, with design on the brand new school currently underway by the Liberty Elementary School District.
In addition to donating the land, Taylor Morrison will also provide all offsite infrastructure required by the City of Goodyear to support the school.
“We felt it was important to help give our homeowners access to their new elementary school as soon as it was feasible for the school district,” said Bob Thompson, vice president of sales and marketing for Taylor Morrison’s Phoenix division. “Access to education is tremendously important to our buyers and we can’t wait for this beautiful school to begin to take shape.”
According to Liberty officials, the district is currently working with Goodyear to expedite the review and approval of the new school’s design. All of the necessary funds to build the school are currently available, Liberty officials added.
“We are confident that our strong partnership with Taylor Morrison will result in a world class school the community can be proud of,” said Dr. Andrew Rogers, Superintendent of Schools for the Liberty Elementary School District #25. “We are on schedule to open the new school for the 2015-2016 school year. It will feature two distinct signature schools on one campus, a visual and performing arts school and a dual language immersion school.”
