SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Taylor Morrison Home Corporation (NYSE: TMHC), a leading national homebuilder and developer, is excited to announce the continuation and expansion of its partnership with the Sacramento SPCA for a second straight year. Taylor Morrison is kicking off the first of two sponsorships planned for this spring during a week-long event aimed at helping clear the shelter ahead of kitten season by covering the adoptions fees for all senior pets from March 21–25. Seniors are dogs five years and older and cats older than one year.
"Taylor Morrison is truly making a difference in the lives of so many pets, and we are excited to partner with them again this year," said Dawn Foster, director of marketing and communications for the Sacramento SPCA. "With kitten season just around the corner, we don't want to forget about our seniors, most of which are already house trained and are patiently waiting, ready for their second chance in a forever home."
Taylor Morrison helped more than 100 shelter animals find their "fur"ever homes in 2017, and plans to help even more this year through additional pet adoption sponsorships and increased community involvement. "Our partnership with the Sacramento SPCA allows us to help foster community in the areas in which we live and build, as well as make a difference in the lives of shelter pets and their owners," said Tim Hearl, Sacramento Division area sales manager for Taylor Morrison.
A staggering 6.5 million animals enter shelters nationwide each year. To help raise awareness for this growing need, Taylor Morrison developed a giant 8-by-8-foot custom dog bed that started "popping up" at pet-friendly events last summer. The bed will be back on tour in 2018, and will make a special appearance during the adoption sponsorship week at the Sacramento SPCA on Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. New pet owners are encouraged to take selfies on the bed with their new furry family member and post to social media to help promote pet adoption.
Pet ownership in the U.S. in on the rise, with a record-breaking 85 million households now owning a pet according to a 2017 survey by the American Pet Products Association. "Over 60 percent of our homebuyers have pets, and as passionate pet owners ourselves, we understand that furry family members play an important role in the new home buying process," said Tim Hearl. With this in mind, Taylor Morrison is building homes with a variety of unique pet-friendly amenities available including in-home pet wash stations and sizeable fenced backyards. All Sacramento community sales centers are pet friendly, and visitors are encouraged to bring along their furry family member to lounge in their own personal dog bed and enjoy the treat and water station, which will be unveiled at the official opening of Blume and Treo at Solaire in Roseville this April.
